Mirte is energised by an environment full of ambition
Mirte switched from OK assistant to consultant. A decision she did not make overnight, but one that suits her character. 'I enjoy contributing something good to healthcare in the Netherlands. I always liked working as a healthcare provider in a hospital, but I knew there was more in this sector where my talents would come into their own.'
Developing across the board
She worked in healthcare for about 10 years, developing herself from a nurse to an operating theatre assistant. She felt that this would not be her end station, and via via, Mirte got into talks with professionals outside the hospital. She ended up at a secondment agency in healthcare. 'If you are an OR assistant, then you are an OR assistant. I felt limited in my position and lacked opportunities for broad development, however much I enjoyed it . So I decided to look around me. Unexpectedly, I became a consultant for freelancers in healthcare and got to know the corporate world.'
Visiar listens to you
Mirte got in touch with Arijan through LinkedIn and she was convinced pretty quickly that she could collaborate on something great at Visiar HealthCare. 'I immediately had a personal click with Arijan. His vision of healthcare, his ambition to make Visiar HealthCare a professional and enthusiastic club, and his genuine interest in my own ambitions were contagious. During my induction period, I quickly discovered that I could bring structure to the young startup. And I learnt a lot from day one. I never thought I would ever do 'anything with ICT' and yet I am doing it now.
