Luuk switched from nurse to consultant

How does a former nurse end up as an EPD consultant at Visiar HealthCare? Luuk Ederveen worked as a nurse in various hospitals, including in Switzerland. He enjoyed doing that for many years. But he wanted to get off the bed. 'I wanted to do something new again after my period abroad. Moving to the Netherlands was the trigger for me to think about a career switch.'

Working closely together

Luuk traded the hospital for a large healthcare software developer. As a consultant, he guided healthcare professionals through EPD migrations in the field of surgical records. He mainly did this guidance remotely. 'I helped healthcare professionals implement the EPD. Because I speak their language, I could give instructions and explanations quite easily. But I missed the hospital. I wanted to work more intensively with the healthcare professionals, and not just bring work and leave.'

Best of Both Worlds

At Visiar HealthCare, Luuk found the best of both worlds: the world of healthcare ICT and the hospital world. 'My heart lies with healthcare: I really want to contribute to improvements. That is also what everyone at Visiar HealthCare is going for; we have a clear mission to make healthcare more efficient. And I like being able to work more closely with healthcare professionals again. Then you feel much better the effect of what you do.'

Coming home to Visiar HealthCare

From the very first meeting, Luuk felt a connection with Visiar HealthCare. 'The conversation really went both ways, I immediately felt there was genuine interest. And I was taken with Arijan's enthusiastic story. We are a small, ambitious club that is growing fast. New colleagues here immediately feel they belong, and they really do. You get to think along, build and try out new things. We spend a lot of time working with customers, but we always look forward to seeing the entire Visiar HealthCare team back at the office. That sometimes feels just like a family.'
