Bob de Zoete

Bob prefers to be involved in the business side of healthcare

His father is a surgeon, but Bob lacked the 'doctor's passion' to become a medical professional. 'The business side of the healthcare sector has always fascinated me'. So he completed his Masters in Health Policy at the Free University of Amsterdam. 'At Visiar HealthCare, there are every opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of complex healthcare processes.'

Dealing with healthcare costs

During his internship at the OLVG in Amsterdam, he saw that considerable savings could be made in healthcare costs. For example, he learned from a pharmacist that some private label drugs have exactly the same effect as more expensive brands. 'How do we handle money in healthcare? I find that question fascinating. I am only at the beginning of my career, but I already feel that this topic suits my interests. It is a big, social problem for which I would like to think about solutions.'

Lots of responsibility

Bob applied to large consulting firms, but it didn't feel like his place. He approached Visiar HealthCare based on his interest and common ground, had a positive interview and decided to take the gamble at the startup. 'I found it quite exciting to start at a small company. I sometimes wondered in the beginning if I had made the right choice. But the answer was always 'yes'. Because as long as I can keep developing myself, it is always the right choice. I get more responsibilities here than in a big consultancy organisation.'

It all adds up

Sometimes we look at each other at Visiar HealthCare and think 'it's all right'. We feel good about each other, there is a positive energy and we help each other. When I am working on an assignment with a client, I know that there is always a team behind me that I can ask for help, advice and support from. The great thing about that is that the client also sees that and therefore has a lot of confidence in Visiar HealthCare as a team. Where will we be in two years' time? No idea. But we all see the enormous potential of this small, energetic company.'
